On Saturday, September 27 a couple dozen volunteers came up to the station and helped with decluttering and organizational efforts to deal with years of accumulated stuff.
Volunteers sorted through old reel-to-reels, keeping unique recordings for future digitization preservation efforts, and discarding copies of mass-produced programming. Volunteers also went cleaned out the office area and got rid of clutter, scanned historical documents, sorted vinyl donations, replaced light bulbs, vacuumed, and worked on getting the additional studio space we’re calling the Pod up and functioning.
Pizza Tree and Logboat donated pizza and beer respectively to the efforts, and a lot of good conversations and team-building happened. You could almost see the community growing inside our community radio station! We still need another 2 or 3 similar work parties to get the station fully cleaned up and organized, but we’re well on our way!
