What Can We Learn From HIV?

February 9 @ 1:00 pm - 2:00 pm

Saturday, February 9 › 1-2 p.m.

Columbia Public Library, Friends Room

As a complement to the “Outbreak” infectious disease exhibit on display at the Columbia Public Library January 15-February 15, we present Dr. Margaret Lange, an investigator from MU’s Department of Microbiology and Immunology. She will share her current research on viruses, many that cause debilitating and life-threatening infections, as well as a variety of human cancers. Dr. Lange currently focuses on understanding the biology behind HIV infection. She uses nucleic acids, DNA and RNA, as tools inside cells to define how specific HIV proteins work to help the virus replicate. Her work seeks to answer basic HIV biology questions that may reveal new ways to target the virus therapeutically.

Registration: Not required.
