The June 2015 meeting of the New Wave Corporation board of directors was held on
the 16th day of the month in the Cope-Ashlock room at the station.
Connie Hyman, Curt Woehleber, Ellen Schlie, Dan Hemmelgarn, Kay Allen, Jackie
Casteel, Heather O’Connor and David Owens were present.
The station broadcast went off the air around 7:25 and David had to leave to
troubleshoot.
Two CD players have stopped working and may need to be replaced.
It was proposed that we cut back the number of fundraising mailings to two a year.
The issue of payroll advances was discussed again. A motion was made that we draft a
proposed revision to the bylaws to explicitly forbid payroll advances. Due to uncertainty
as to whether a change in the bylaws is the appropriate way to formalize this policy, the
motion was retracted and the issue tabled.
Community advisory committee: Connie Hyman is looking into the possibility of having
the event in combination with the city’s July 4th celebration. Other possible venues
would be Ragtag or First Friday, in order to have pre-existing crowds from which to
draw people.
The remote at the market will be Dubb Nubb on the 27th.
There is a possibility we could provide a trailside surprise at the Boone Dawdle, August
15.
Jackie Casteel is working on a proposal for a podcast education event that would be a
multi-day event designed to help people who are interested in learning how to create
audio programs.
A pledge drive was proposed for early July, possibly the 12th-14th.
Kay will be moving to New England before the end of the year. She isn’t yet sure when
she will stop participating in board meetings and other volunteer activities.
