Board Meeting Minutes — February 2015

February minutes

The February 2015 meeting of the Board of KOPN was held on the 17th of the month in
the Ashlock room at the Station. Board members present were Dan Hemmelgarn, Kay
Allen, Curt Wohleber, Connie Hyman, Atish Sen, Heather O’Connor, Jackie Casteel, and
Philip Rabbitt.

Meg Poche and station manager David Owens were also present.

Board membership, duties and offices:

James Ginnes has left town and missed 3 meetings. Motion to dismiss him from the
board was made by Atish Sen and passed. Motion to appoint Peter Anger for a period of
one year was made by Atish and passed.

Dan Hemmelgarn was nominated as Treasurer by Kay, motion was passed.

Check-signing duties were discussed. Curt Wohleber agreed to sign checks.

The financial statements and the pledge drive were discussed.

Upcoming events were discussed, including
-Panel discussion with the African-American Clergy Coalition, to be held on Feb. 28
-The women’s open house will be March 1st, broadcast noon to 7 pm
-The station’s 42nd birthday is March 3
-Farm and Fiddle beard contest is on March 18th, 7 pm at Cafe Berlin
-Earth Day Festival, April 19th/26th
-Float your boat contest April 25th
-Artrageous Weekend, April 10-12, might be an opportunity to work on boat building in
the station.

A Community Advisory Committee meeting needs to happen for compliance with CPB.

Date could be May or September. Atish and Connie agreed to work on it.

Community events such as Earth Day, Farmers’ Market, Pedalers’ Jamboree, Roots and
Blues were identified as opportunities to reach the public and invite participation.

Additional board changes:

The board voted to rescind Peter Anger’s appointment to the board.

Jackie Casteel is resigning from the Board because she will be serving as a part-time
employee.

The Don Asbee issue with underwriting was discussed.

David agreed to call him to express appreciation for his long-term support.

The possibility for John Betz to serve as ex-president, attending meetings with no voting
rights, was tabled.

Meeting was adjourned at 9:20 p.m.
