2011 One Read Special Programs on KOPN
Classical Black Composers and Performers. On Thursday, September 1 from 5:30 to 8:00 AM, Bob Sapp will be devoting part of Morning Ayre to black composers and performers, including Danzas de Panama by William Grant Still. On Friday, September 2 from 4:00 to 6:00 PM, Jill Sheets will present on Penguin Tracks an interview with librarian, biographer and non-fiction author, Mary D. Wade. Each Sunday in September different black composers will be featured by Joy on Ragtime from 5:00 to 7:00 AM:
On MidMissouri Freedom Forum at 5:00 PM on September 6, Steve Spellman will be have two Librarians on for a On Read Book review and overview of related ONE READ events planned for the month. Then at 5:30 PM, we'll continue the conversation about medical ethics and the spiritual and emotional aspects of healing with retired Surgeon Dr. Loren Humphrey, who is also the author of novels such as "Medical Blemishes" and "The Embryo Factory." Dr. Jeff Frey will be joined by Bill Bondeson for a discussion on the medical ethics of cell research, on Your Health Matters at 6:00 PM on September 7 & 14. On September 21 & 28, Dr. Jeff Frey will host a discussion of the current status of bio-medical cell research in Columbia. Prejudice on Broadway and in the Movies. At 9:00 PM on September 13, Dave Collins will devote Lullaby of Broadway to songs from shows and movies dealing with intolerance, prejudice and racial issues. Songs from Show Boat, Purlie, Big River, and South Pacific will be featured. On Friday, September 16, an interview with Carolyn Mulford, a Missouri author and editor of fiction and nonfiction books for children and young adults will be featured on Penguin Tracks. |
